Task # 23

I think the e books could be very useful for both in class and home use especially to encourage students with a reluctance to read - a well read chapter could entice someone into continuing the book themselves or support them as they read the book. It could also allow groups to be engaged in a separate activity with a different voice to listen to and focus to follow than their class teacher, while the teacher was engaged with a different part of the class. I love the whole potential of the idea.

Task # 22

Ebooks have such a huge potential and the format is so easy to manage. It has potential in all kinds of places not just educational institutions and it brings the world to people - a fantastic resource. Although I do just love laying in bed with a good book and being transported to another life so I suppose there is room in the world for both types.

Task # 21

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9sy75iKfoM
This is just a science based youtube I found but the trouble with this kind of thing is once you start where will it all end and how do you possibly make up your mind as to which one you choose? I have used youtube a lot last term to teach my class dances and they have also then found the clip and practised at home so from the start there is a great deal of self motivation to be gained using the technology.

Task # 18

I love wikis for quick, to the point definitions, access to other information with links and visuals but sometimes I think the information is kind of clunky and unwieldy to use in the way it is set out.

Task # 17

I think when you are trying to gather a range of websites for webquests and research with primary children a lot of time can be saved by having gathered and bookmarked them with delicious- and anything that can save your time has to be a good thing!

Task # 20

Podcasting has the potential to bring guest presenters into your class rom without having to go anywhere. It is someone else for the students to listen to and a different style of presenting altogether. Plus the myriad of possible podcasts to use. It brings the world right to your door.

Task # 14

I can't believe I got my tasks so out of order. I must have been distracted by something shiny!
Wow - Face book is so easy and quick to set up and once you are there the other parts of it become the natural progression that you want to extend yourself with- How fantastic!

Task # 15

RSS feeds I think that this has enormous potential especially in a research sense or a group project and definitely time saving!

Task # 19

I love the Rollyo it was so easy to set up and has plenty of uses when you want help to sift through research and web sites.

Task # 13

I like the idea of libraries using my space to move into the 21st century and become more interactive as communication fields also get more interactive. I don't think it could work so efficiently with smaller children but it could be worth using in upper primary classes.

task # 11

What a great way to sort through books, organise, read, find, keep a record of collections and even swap ideas in a book club!

Task # 9

There are such a huge number of virtual world stuff out there if you can get it to do what you want then you really could use it to enhance so many learning opportunities in maths and history anything really; and being 3D you have also captured the minds and imaginations of the people you are teaching. It looks like an amazing resource.

igoogle

I like igoogle in principal but I don't like how all the separate little boxes are over the page so much. The other thing that I find annoying is it is constantly jumping to the end of the page when you are reading something at the top. I do like being able to personalise the page more and the youtube video search bar is something I can use at work to help organise lessons for the smart board etc.

Google maps is a lot of fun to use - just to find stuff and get directions if you need to go somewhere, to go back to places you have been especially when you get back from holidays you can get onto google maps and check out so many things and share it with your friends or add stories to go with your photos.

Task # 5

I love the new documents and templates that are in google - finally someone started filing the wheels so we can stop reinventing them. Loved google calendar with email reminders and very user friendly too how cool!

Task#4

The main aim of Web 2.0 seems to be finding ways of achieving greater efficiency for a larger quantity of users on a bigger scale while maximising attributes that can be accessed with the widest possible number of online services.
In order to make libraries into a multidimensional service and not restricted to just the traditional one dimensional WEB 2.0 will allow the use by both the library and the users acess to as many areas to gain service as there are possibilities. This would bring the library into the 21st century with technology, tools, services, participation and social values. I liked this idea from Mary Ellen Bates -"The collaborative web, on the other hand, is all about being part of a conversation, a community" and also providing a way of "sharing recommendations among your clients and vendors, participating in relevant groups, and answering questions."
It reminds you that as ideas and adaptations grow so too can the potential of the internet services and interactions.

I am looking forward to getting some new IT skills and attaching meaning to those IT labels that are always being spoken about. Can't wait to get going!
